چکیده

Urinary tract infection (UTI), which may be symptomatic or asymptomatic, is one of the most common bacterial infections requiring medical treatment during pregnancy.1 Asymptomatic bacteriuria (ASB) affects 2-10% of pregnant women, depending on the patient population. If left untreated, as many as 30-50% will develop symptomatic UTI, often in the form of pyelonephritis.2 The hormonal and mechanical changes of the upper and lower urinary tract during pregnancy contribute to development of bacteriuria and UTI.3
